The partnership of the Erasmus+ YouthASD project, co-funded by the European Commission (G.A. KA220-YOU-2021-029), recently convened in person in Athens from 18 to 21 September 2023, for its periodic project meeting. This gathering provided a wonderful opportunity for partners to come together, take stock of the project’s progress, and collaboratively plan the next steps.
In addition, the meeting facilitated a learning, teaching and training experience that was also open to external participants on how to implement our next result: the 3-day activity programme, which involve both young people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and those without. It turned out to be an incredibly enriching experience, fostering discussion on creating a tailor-made pathway and programme that would actively engage both groups. The focus was on identifying tools and strategies to promote inclusion, such as designing an ASD-friendly environment, while enhancing the strengths of all participants.
Everyone has the right and responsibility to actively participate in society. It is our duty to create the situations and conditions for this to happen, supporting young individuals with ASD as needed, and then granting them the right and responsibility to choose and act on their own behalf. By empowering youth with ASD, we not only fulfil our duty as a society but also enrich our communities with the diverse talents and perspectives they bring.
This meeting exemplified the project’s commitment to meaningful inclusion and the sharing of knowledge and expertise. It was a precious opportunity that brought added value in our project journey towards creating a more inclusive society for people with ASD and their peers.
Stay tuned for further updates on our project’s activities and progress!
